The Illustrations of Xiao Bai
Xiao Bai is a superb Chinese illustrator and one of my favorites who studied traditional Chinese art since a young age. Many of her characters sport tatoos, reason being Xiao Bai has a job as a tattoo artist. How lucky is that? I thought working at Google was cool but Xiao Bai draws pictures for a living with the added benefit of being able to discount 100% off any tatoo…at any time. The illustrations are cool too. What do you think about them? Check out a few more pictures here.
James Jirat Patradoon
The above illustration is by Australian artist James Jirat Patradoon and the series “examines notions of deferred mascullinities: confused and misdirected rites of passage informed more by cartoons and action heroes than by reality itself.” To me they simply look like really really cool pictures. Masculine stereotypes aside I grew up on comic books and these pictures remind me of X-Men….but on lots and lots of e pills. Absolute dopeness.
The Art of Benjamin Guedel
I absolutely love the illustrations of Benjamin Guedel…and I mean O.D. love his illustrations. Benjamin Guedel is a freelance illustrator and comic artist based in Zurich, Switzerland. His bump and grind style is reminiscent of pulp fiction covers and cult film posters of the 1950s with a distinct contemporary, politically incorrect edge. His book Blood, Sweat & Tears is available for sale on Amazon.
